2009 Walk for Farm Animals Results

Results for the 2009 Walk for Farm Animals are in, and we are so excited to announce that this has been another record-breaking year!

More than 3,600 people participated in 67 Walks held around the U.S. and in Canada, and we also introduced our first virtual “No Walk” Walk. That’s 10 more Walks than the previous year, and our participants raised over $330,000* for farm animals. Click here to see photos of the 2009 Walks.

Each year the Walk grows in size and impact, sending an ever more powerful message that farm animals deserve better.
This wouldn’t be possible without everyone who participated to make the Walk a success: the walkers who took to the streets to educate their communities, the donors who generously supported this important cause, the businesses that kindly donated their products and services, and, of course, our tireless Walk coordinators, who made these events possible. These combined efforts brought much needed attention to the plight of farm animals and raised critical funds for Farm Sanctuary’s rescue, education and advocacy work.

Special thanks to Herbivore Clothing Company’s Josh Hooten, a committed advocate for farm animals and the talented designer of our limited-edition 2009 Walk t-shirt.

With your help, the Walk grows and makes more of a difference every year. Together we are making the world a better place for farm animals.

*Please note: This number represents the total amount raised. In the past we reported the net amount, but beginning with the 2009 Walk we are now reporting the total.

The Walk for Farm Animals literally wouldn’t be possible without the hard work and dedication of an amazing group of people — the Walk coordinators. These are volunteers in their local communities who organize and orchestrate each of the Walks.  They are truly heroes to farm animals, working tirelessly to get the message out there and to raise awareness and funds through each unique event. On behalf of everyone at Farm Sanctuary, we thank you for all you do to create a more compassionate world.
